I really hope tonights SportsCenter won't have an entire feature dedicated to Astros SP Bud Norris. The guy has a 2-4 record with a 6.03 ERA (both wins happened to come against "The Machine" and the Cardinals. Albert Pujols was 1-3 with a 2B and 2 K's in the first meeting; tonight, he was 0-3. Bud Norris own Albert Pujols. But please, ESPN, DO NOT dedicate a segment to Mr. Norris - my measley blog is enough publicity for this guy.
Against the Cards, Norris has 2 Wins, 13 IP, 10 H, 2 R (1 ER), 3 BB, 17 K - good for a .69 ERA - Cy Young numbers. Problem is, the rest of the league: 21.1 IP, 28 H, 24 R (22 ER), 17 BB, 24 K - a 9.28 ERA. So is this guy worth a 2 minute clip in SportsCenter? If he was on like he was tonight, yes. Is he as cool as Chuck Norris, no.
Why can't the Cardinals figure him out? Maybe he just gets all juiced up for them. In two years, he's allowed 1 earned run in 26 innings against them, amassing half (4) of his career wins. Good for you Bud Norris. And Houston, good for you too - you were once the laughing stock along with the Orioles - you just went to STL and swept a 3-game series.
Chuck Norris sleeps with a pillow under his gun. I don't. Goodnight!
