Florida is ranked #2 nationally - but before you jump to conclusions, I am still having a hard time believing we are the second worst team in this Field of 64. Let me explain:
Manhattan (MAAC winner) is 34-17 overall. We're heading to #2 Florida.
Princeton (Ivy League winner) is 23-22 overall. They're headed to #7 Texas.
Maine (America East winner) is 32-22 overall. They're headed to #3 UNC.
Arkansas-Little Rock (Sun Belt winner) is 24-32 overall. They're headed to Oregon State, #13 in the country. The Sun Belt is a very good conference, so that one I can deal with.
New Mexico (Mountain West winner) is 20-39 overall and is heading to Arizona State. Sure, the Mountain West is legit, but at 19 games under .500, you should have to play a national seed, I don't give a shit who you are.
Regardless of the bitching I do and the gripes I have with the selection committee, it is what it is. We're headed to a top-notch school to take on one of the best teams in the entire country. And for a change, there's no pressure on us.
We're headed down tomorrow afternoon, we'll practice on the field Thursday afternoon, and on Friday at 4:00pm on ESPNU, we're going to take on the Gators down in "The Swamp". Here's a look at their stadium:

I mean it's nothing really spectacular if you compare it to the friendly confines we play in over at Van Cortlandt Park (I took that picture, and it may or may not be PhotoShop'd):

We've got quite a task at hand in the Gators, but our guys are up for it. We had news stations at practice today shooting some footage. Channel 4 and Channel 7 were out interviewing our guys, so it's a pretty exciting time around these parts of the Bronx. I missed the segment earlier tonight on the 6:00 evening news, so I am going to cut this short and get in bed so I can catch it on the 11:00 news.
9:30am the bus pulls out of the Draddy Gym lot. I will catch up with you tomorrow at some point.
And don't worry, I will document this trip in it's entirety (more or less).
Good night and travel well!
