Oddities in the BX

I saw several that were pretty damn weird/comical when we were walking to get our salads from River City Grill just now.

#1 - A lady crossing the street wearing a pair of men's swimming trunks

#2 - As I was walking in to pick up the salads, a man picked up a cigarette off the ground and began smoking it.  When I came out, Lindsay said his girlfriend asked him where he got it, to which he replied "on the ground" - but that didn't stop her from sharing in the cancer-stick with the love of her life.

#3 - A guy sitting at a light looking like a Guido with light hair, pumping techno music extremely loud.  Lindsay asked, aloud, "is this guy serious?" and then he reached for the dial and turned it down.

Figured I would post a little while my salad get a little cool in the fridge.  Time to go.

N+Y+C = Father's Day

We headed into the city this morning around 10:45am to enjoy some time as a family in the Big Apple.  Yes, Nathan, Nolan, Lindsay, and I all went.

We started down at the dog run at Riverside Dr. and 87th.  It went well, until this one pain in the ass dog kept trying to hump Nathan - I was getting pissed so we left.  We walked across town towards Central Park where we settled in for a little picnic after a quick stop at Lenny's Deli on Columbus and 84th.

Then we walked back across to get the car on 88th and Riverside Dr. and are now back in the confines of our apartment in the Bronx.

In between, I managed to snap a shit ton of photos - some that mean something and some totally random shots from the hip - literally.  I just opened the camera and put it discretely at my hip and shot.  Pretty weird results.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy my day in NYC today as much as I enjoyed spending it with my fam.
Dude sleeping on the bench, enjoying his day alone.
Linds and Nolan going towards the water, in the tunnel.

Firehouse Engine 74 - Thanks for the hard work keeping NYC safe.
Lindsay and Nathan strolling down the block.
Giant Rice Chris-py Treat from Lenny's.
Burping the little man.
Enjoying the sights and sounds of the park.
Nathan relaxing in the shade.
Street Fair traffic on the corner - took Linds 15 minutes to use the restroom.
A little perspective shot of the fire escape of a building.
Rocking out with mom's Wayfarer shades on.
Henry V is still alive, and free.  We didn't go.
Hey man, gotta be comfortable - leg out, lounging.
Happy we're heading back to the Bronx - he doesn't know any better.

That's all for today - at least from 11:00am to 2:00pm.  College World Series is on right now.  Everyone is very, very tired right now.  Nathan is assed out and Nolan is so tired he can't fall asleep - it's only a matter of time.

Later dudes and dads - enjoy your day.

Happy Father's Day

fa·ther

[fah-ther] Show IPA
–noun
1.a male parent.
2.a father-in-law, stepfather, or adoptive father.
3.any male ancestor, especially the founder of a race, family, or line; progenitor.

Those are the dictionary definitions, but the real definition of a father is far more in depth.  A lot goes into being a good father (to Nolan and Nathan and a great husband to Lindsay).  I, however, do not have the recipe and/or am not at liberty to share my secrets with you.

It's pretty eye-opening, though, now that I myself am a father.  I am not much of a "rah rah" holiday guy, but this one is pretty cool.  Seeing my little dude grow up, hit little milestones (like smile and punch me in the face) - they're pretty cool.

And I know my father had these moments with me as well, and that's pretty cool.  He did a great job and I'd like to think I'll do a great job too because I was raised with great parents who did a great job raising two awesome children (even though I have a bit of a mean streak as opposed to Jesse).  We're pretty awesome, not gonna try to humble-fy it.

Time to eat a little breakfast, I just wanted to pop on and say Happy Father's Day to everyone out there who is fortunate enough to celebrate this day, especially my old man.

Enjoy your day!
