AL All-Stars as per WRT

The Midsummer Classic is almost upon us, so what better time than now to wax a little on who I think should be the starting 9 for the All-Star Game in Arizona (love the font, by the way, called Kruella).  There's a lot of guys having great seasons, so my picks and the actual picks may not and probably will not line up.  Who cares, I blog, they don't.

Here goes:

Catcher
--Leading Vote Getter:  NYY Russell Martin - .230, 9 HR, 30 RBI, big market in NY - streaky.
--Deserving Starter:  DET Alex Avila - .304, 15 2B, 3 3B, 10 HR, 45 RBI, .917 OPS - stud year!

First Base
--LVG:  BOS Adrian Gonzalez - .361, 16 HR, 71 RBI, MVP-type year.  No argument.
--DSsee above

Second Base
--LVG:  NYY Robinson Cano - .290, 14 HR, 48 RBI, best pure hitter at the position.
--DS:  LAA Howie Kendrick - .301, 8 HR, 26 RBI - forever known as just a guy but he's good - no power.

Third Base
--LVG: NYY Alex Rodriguez - .300, 13 HR, 51 RBI - RED HOT but under the radar, for a change
--DS:  BAL Mark Reynolds - .227, 14 HR, 38 RBI - every team needs someone right?  HR or a K - dig it?

Shortstop
--LVG:  NYY Derek Jeter - .260, 2 HR, 20 RBI - injured and always the pick at SS - time for a change.
--DS:  CLE Asdrubal Cabrera - .295, 20 2B, 13 HR, 46 RBI - and his name is fun to say - SAY IT!

Outfield
--LVG(s):  TOR Jose Bautista - .328, 23 HR, 49 RBI - weird ratio but the best pure power hitter in baseball
NYY Curtis Granderson  - .276, 21 HR, 55 RBI, 12 SB - could hit leadoff and make it 1-0 every game
TEX Josh Hamilton - .294, 7 HR, 35 RBI - everyone's favorite junkie, they love his ink
--DS(s):  TB Matt Joyce - .313, 10 HR, 38 RBI - yeah, exactly, who?  3rd highest OPS for AL OFers
TOR Jose Bautista - see above
BOS Jacoby Ellsbury - .303, 9 HR, 39 RBI, 25 SB - when he gets on, Boston is even better

Time to take the dog out, change the kid, and hit the best.  It's hotter than hell up here, so that AC is going to feel even that much better.

Night fools!

Lose-day

Here's what I learned today while walking to the supermarket to get some ingredients for my salad du jour:

ALWAYS BRING A CAMERA or CAMERA PHONE!

There was a lady on the corner - not a hooker - checking out the bus schedule to like within 2" of the sign.  This leads me to believe it is not her fault that she dressed like a fucking clown.  Sandals, black spandex pants, a red shirt that really emphasized her bakery, and big glasses on.  But how the hell was she to know, she can't see what she's wearing when she leaves the house.

A picture is worth 1,000 words, so I'll end it here - my bad, I forgot my camera.  It was priceless and I lost the opportunity to bring this post to a whole new level.  My apologies.

Wipeout is on right now, for an hour.  Tune in!  Channel 7.

Forgetful-ness

For the life of me, I can't kick my forgetfulness.  Each and every day there are plenty of blog-worthy opportunities that are presented to me - unthinkable outfits people wear here in the Bronx, sports stories, current events, birthdays, etc. etc.  And each and every day, I forget to write them down, even though I tell myself to write them down, because here in the Bronx and greater NYC area, a lot of random, funny shit happens.

I try to do crosswords to keep my brain and mind sharp, I read from time to time, but I still cannot break the habit of forgetting things.  I remember information pertaining to family, friends, dates of interest and events (for the most part) but when it comes to blogging I refuse to tap into my memory for material.  I am not short on material to write about - I just write about whatever is on my brain and what I find interesting/funny/ridiculous.

There's at least a handful of things I wanted to post about today but I can't remember what they are.  And it pisses me off to no end and sometimes eats me up inside.

Here's a list of shit I routinely forget:
- where I put my keys
- where I parked my car
- where I put my phone
- what day it is
- where my iPod is

I guess forgetting these things pales in comparison with forgetting other things.  And the weird thing is I memorize some phone numbers, even though it's totally unnecessary because in my cell phone, all I need to do is search for a name.

OK, enough rambling about my shortcomings.  Time to get some work done here.  I took a 5 minute break because I almost passed out from heat exhaustion because the gym is about 247°.

Back to work so I can get out of here soon.
