10 years?!?

The Marlins' Jeffrey Loria seems to be playing the role of Santa Claus this offseason, throwing a reported $200+ million and 10 years at Albert Pujols.  The websites say he is going to be 32 in January, but I am not so sure of it.  I would ask to see the dudes birth certificate before offering him 10 years.  The most notable 10 year contract isn't panning out so well - it's a guy from Miami - Alex Rodriguez.

And people are saying the Mets Jose Reyes Era ended when he signed with the Marlins.  Since when did no world series and numerous trips on the DL result in an era?  David Wright is the face of that franchise.  Saying it was the Jose Reyes Era is like saying it was the Brady Anderson Era in Baltimore in the late 1990's.  Sure. Reyes was the spark plug for the Mets but he was never the face of the franchise.

I just am having a hard time with this 10 years, $200+ million.  I wish I had that money to throw around.

Loria better take a look at the Eagles and how their "Dream Team" turned out - they just got pumped by the Seahawks on Thursday night.

And the Miami Marlins' new logo, uniform, and hat is brutal.

Durk Star

A friend of mine from back in the day began his blog, chronicling (man is that a weird word to type) his journey back to "Durkdom" - he packed on some lbs. but is rejuvenating his life, one day at a time.  He's not fat, by any means, but I think he wants to get back in "game shape".  He's a killer hockey player (I couldn't even control the ball when we played roller hockey but I tended to tip it his way for an easy assist) and a good dude to boot, so follow his blog - http://oldbloodblog.blogspot.com/ - even if you hate me or sports, I am sure his content will keep you laughing and might even inspire you.

As for me, well I am going to pick up my telescope in a few hours so I can start stargazing a little more seriously.

Looking forward to it.

Also headed down to NYC this weekend to hang out with our good friends the Pulidore's - headed to dinner Saturday night and then a night of fun.  Sunday, Lindsay and I are going to the Chiefs/Jets game only because we won two tickets and a parking pass.  I can care less the outcome of the game but it'll be fun to get out for a few days.

My parents are headed up our way to tend to the little guy and Nathan.  I'm sure they're excited.

Later!
